Colombia Experiences Series of Seven Tremors Overnight
The Servicio Geológico Colombiano reported seven movements between 1:08 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on August 26 across the departments of Chocó, Bolívar, Santander and Cesar. [2] The first movement was reported at 1:08 a.m. in Istmina, Chocó, with a magnitude of 3.0 and a depth of 39 kilometers. [2] At 1:51 a.m., a magnitude 2.3 event classified as superficial struck Simití, Bolívar. [2] At 1:53 a.m., a magnitude 3.1 tremor occurred in Los Santos, Santander, at a depth of 152 kilometers, with the epicenter nine kilometers from Los Santos. [2] Activity continued at 2:14 a.m. with another magnitude 3.0 event in Istmina, Chocó, at 40 kilometers depth. [2] At 2:31 a.m., a magnitude 2.0 superficial quake hit Bosconia, Cesar. [2] Los Santos recorded a second magnitude 3.1 event at 3:56 a.m. at 147 kilometers depth, with the epicenter five kilometers from the municipality. The new reports come 16 days after the magnitude 7.4 earthquake on August 10 with its epicenter in San José del Palmar, Chocó. [2] According to the balance from the Unidad Nacional para la Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres updated until August 24, the event left 331 people deceased and 4,439 injured. [2] The entity also reported 240 people missing and 364 rescued. [2] In total, the emergency affected 16 departments and 494 municipalities, with 185,226 families and 361,353 people impacted. [2]

Chile Records Multiple Earthquakes on August 26
During the present day, Chile registered at least two perceptible earthquakes reported by the Centro Sismológico Nacional of the Universidad de Chile. [1] At 06:59 hours, a magnitude 4.4 event occurred 35 km east of El Salvador at 101 km depth. [1] At 07:38 hours, a magnitude 3.9 quake struck 318 km southeast of Puerto Williams at 10 km depth. Japanese Radio Station Delivers Critical Post-Quake Information
A community radio station in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture, continued broadcasting disaster information and safety advice to residents after a powerful earthquake struck the area in July. [5] Staff at FM Yatsushiro evacuated during a live broadcast because of the July 28 earthquake but resumed operations the following day. [5] Radio personality Yukiko Yamada, 46, urged listeners to ensure their safety while broadcasting live from the station inside the city office and later recalled that her voice was shaking. [5] The tremor knocked down shelves and scattered broken glass, damaging the seismic isolation device at the city office and forcing a temporary closure. [5] Yamada returned to the microphone the day after the earthquake and has focused on programs that stay close to the hearts of affected people. [5] The station suspended regular programming and instead broadcast disaster-related information confirmed directly with the municipal government. [5] It continues to provide warnings about economy class syndrome and heatstroke prevention measures along with classical music and songs by the late Yatsushiro-native singer Aki Yashiro.
