Ukraine Conflict Sees Russia Planning 11,000 Attack Drones for August 2026
In the Ukraine conflict, Ukrainian intelligence reports that Russia plans to manufacture 11,000 attack drones of various types including Geran models in August 2026 while Russian forces conducted 254 combat clashes across the front lines in the past day with the heaviest fighting on the Lyman and Kostiantynivka fronts. Russian Drone Production Plans
Ukrainian intelligence reveals that Russia's military-industrial complex plans to manufacture 11,000 attack drones of various types in August 2026. [1] Major General Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Head of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, stated the planned output includes Geran-1, Geran-2, Geran-3, Geran-4, Geran-5, Garpiya, Gerbera, Gerbera-Kamikaze and Gerbera Seeker models. [1] In July, Russia slightly reduced the intensity of drone strikes and cut production volumes to reconfigure for turbojet-powered Geran-4 and Geran-5 models. Ukrainian Strikes on Drone Infrastructure
Ukraine's defence forces hit all three underground storage facilities used to store warheads and fuel for Geran and Gerbera drones during the strike on Bryansk Oblast on 1 August. [1] New production halls are being built within the Alabuga special economic zone in Russia's Tatarstan where a factory producing Shahed-type drones operates. [1] Russia uses Shahed-type attack drones to strike Ukraine just days after they are manufactured. [1]

Daily Combat Activity
A total of 254 combat clashes have occurred on the battlefield over the past day. [2] The Russians conducted the heaviest attacks on the Lyman front with 30 assaults and the Kostiantynivka front with 31 assaults. [2] On the North Slobozhanshchyna front and in the operational zone in Russia's Kursk Oblast, three combat clashes occurred. [2] The Russians launched one airstrike dropping three guided bombs and conducted 51 strikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements. [2] On the South Slobozhanshchyna front, the Russians conducted 25 attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Starytsia, Vovchansk, Lyman and Artilne and towards Izbytske, Volokhivka, Kupyne, Khatnie, Ukrainske, Bereznyky and Ambarne. [2] On the Kupiansk front, the Russians conducted two attacks near the village of Petropavlivka and towards the village of Novoplatonivka. [2] On the Lyman front, the Russians conducted 30 attacks trying to break through Ukrainian defences towards the settlements of Drobysheve, Lyman, Dibrova and Ozerne and near Novoiehorivka, Novoselivka, Torske and Yampil. [2] On the Sloviansk front, the Russians conducted seven assaults near the village of Riznykivka and towards the village of Rai-Oleksandrivka. [2] On the Kramatorsk front, the Russians conducted three attacks near Nykyforivka and towards Yurkivka. Russian Personnel and Equipment Losses
Russia has lost 1,470 soldiers killed and wounded over the past day bringing its total number of personnel losses to 1,459,210. [3] The total combat losses of the Russian forces between 24 February 2022 and 10 August 2026 include approximately 1,459,210 military personnel, 12,255 tanks, 25,116 armoured combat vehicles, 47,669 artillery systems, 2,019 multiple-launch rocket systems, 1,558 air defence systems, 439 fixed-wing aircraft, 354 helicopters, 2,181 ground robotic systems, 452,994 operational-tactical UAVs, 5,007 cruise missiles, 35 ships/boats, 2 submarines, 132,236 vehicles and fuel tankers and 4,511 special vehicles and other equipment. Frontline Developments by Sector
On the Kostiantynivka front, the Russians conducted 31 attacks near the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Illinivka and Rusyn Yar and towards Dovha Balka and Mykolaipillia. [2] On the Pokrovsk front, Ukraine's defence forces stopped 26 Russian assaults near the settlements of Novooleksandrivka, Kotlyne, Udachne and Molodetske and towards Kucheriv Yar, Nove Shakhove, Novohryshyne, Shevchenko, Svitle, Serhiivka, Muravka, Matiasheve and Novopavlivka. [2] On the Oleksandrivka front, the Russians conducted three attacks towards Danylivka and Nove Zaporizhzhia. [2] On the Huliaipole front, the Russians conducted 21 attacks towards the settlements of Vozdvyzhivka, Hirke, Staroukrainka, Huliaipilske, Rivne and Tsvitkove. [2] On the Orikhiv front, Ukrainian defenders repelled two Russian attempts to advance towards Prymorske and near Plavni. [2] On the Prydniprovske front, the Russians did not conduct any offensive operations over the past day. [2] On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, there is no evidence of any offensive Russian groups being formed in the area. [2]
Implications for Ukrainian Air Defence
Skibitskyi reported that now different interceptors with a matching speed or short-range air defence are needed to counter the faster turbojet drones. [1] The reconfiguration toward turbojet-powered Geran-4 and Geran-5 models which comprised up to 50 percent of drones in a recent attack requires adjustments in Ukrainian air defence capabilities.
