South Korean Police Seek Arrest Warrants for Four Activists After U.S. Air Base Trespass

Police in multiple countries have made arrests in separate crime cases this week, including four South Korean student activists for trespassing at a U.S. air base, fake health workers conducting an illegal medical outreach in Nigeria's Kano state, and a suspect in an alleged kidnapping plot in Delta state.

South Korean Student Activists Face Arrest Over U.S. Base Breach

Police said Thursday they have requested arrest warrants for four student activists for allegedly trespassing on a U.S. air base in South Korea earlier this week. [2] On Tuesday, eight members of the Korean Progressive University Student Union, four male and four female, attempted to breach the main gate of the K-55 Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek, about 60 kilometers south of Seoul. [2] Six entered the compound, while the other two were stopped at the entrance. [2] The U.S. Forces Korea detained the student activists on-site and handed them over to the Pyeongtaek Police Station. [2] Four were placed in custody, while the other four were released. [2] The four detained allegedly filmed themselves chanting anti-U.S. slogans against the 7th Air Force, which they accused of interfering in a semiconductor cluster project in the southwestern city of Gwangju by raising concerns about its impact on U.S. military interests. Kano Authorities Arrest Fake Health Workers Running Illegal Outreach

The Kano State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Private Health Institutions Management Agency, the Kano State Centre for Disease Control, and the Kano State Police Command, has arrested some suspects allegedly conducting an illegal medical outreach in Panshekara, Kumbotso Local Government Area. [3] The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Abubakar, confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement on Wednesday. [3] According to the statement, the arrest of the suspects followed credible intelligence received from vigilant members of the public regarding the unauthorised medical activity. [3] A joint team from the Ministry of Health, PHIMA, and KNCDC was deployed to the location, leading to the arrest of the suspects. [3] The suspects are currently in police custody at the Bompai Headquarters for further investigation. [3] The suspects were found operating under the name Brother Paul Legacy Foundation, a purported non-governmental organisation, where they were distributing registration cards bearing the organisation’s name and collecting money from unsuspecting members of the public under the guise of providing medical services. [3] Preliminary investigations established that the mastermind and the other suspects were neither qualified health professionals nor possessed any recognised health-related certification. [3] The registration cards issued by the suspects, which bear an address in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, falsely promised “free treatment” in an apparent attempt to lure unsuspecting victims into the illegal operation. [3] The Commissioner for Health urged residents to remain vigilant and refrain from patronising unlicensed individuals or self-acclaimed healthcare providers. [3]

Delta Police Foil Kidnapping Plot, Arrest Suspect and Seize Gun

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have foiled an alleged plot to kidnap a pastor and a retired school principal in Ughelli, arresting a suspect linked to the planned abduction. [5] The police said it also recovered a single-barrel gun and two live cartridges during the operation. [5] The command’s spokesman, Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, saying the arrest followed credible intelligence received by operatives of the ‘A’ Division in Ughelli. [5] The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jeremiah Kwane, allegedly attempted to recruit another person into a kidnapping syndicate to carry out the planned abduction. [5] On July 31, 2026, operatives of ‘A’ Division, Ughelli, acting on credible intelligence, foiled a planned kidnapping after receiving information that Jeremiah Kwane, 26, had attempted to recruit an individual into a kidnapping syndicate with the intention of abducting a pastor and a retired school principal in Ughelli. [5] The intelligence prompted the immediate arrest of the suspect at his place of work in Ughelli. [5] A search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of a single-barrel gun and two live cartridges. [5] The suspect was assisting the police with further investigation. [5] The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes. [5]

FCT Police Raid Bandits’ Hideout and Recover Rifles

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has recovered two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition during a raid on a suspected bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest, located between Plateau and Bauchi states. [4] The operation followed further investigation into the arrest of four suspects allegedly involved in supplying arms, ammunition, and illicit substances to bandits. [4] Operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the operation on August 2 after receiving credible intelligence from one of the arrested suspects, identified as Musbahu Ishaq. [4] The information led the operatives to the forest where the criminal syndicate allegedly maintained one of its hideouts. [4] Further investigation established that Musbahu Ishaq obtained arms and ammunition from one Rabiu Hassan and supplied them to one Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin currently at large and believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State. [4] A search of the hideout led to the recovery of the two rifles and live ammunition allegedly concealed in the forest. [4] Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate, recover additional weapons linked to the group, and charge the suspects in court. [4] The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Sanusi, said the command would continue its intelligence-led operations until all members of the syndicate were apprehended. [4]

Balochistan Lawmakers Demand Arrests in Asma Jattak Kidnapping Case

Treasury and opposition members in the Balochistan Assembly on Wednesday expressed strong outrage over the failure to arrest those accused of killing Asma Jattak’s father, uncle and fiancé, and kidnapping her. [1] A day earlier, unidentified men shot dead Inayatullah Jattak, father of the woman who was kidnapped two years ago. [1] Ministers, opposition leaders and other lawmakers staged a walkout from the house in protest and demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the killings and kidnapping. [1] Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, who was presiding over the session, directed the provincial police chief, the Kalat region DIG and the Khuzdar SSP to arrest the suspects named in three FIRs within 48 hours and submit a progress report to the assembly. [1] JUI-F MPA Mir Zabit Reki from Washuk raised the issue on a point of order and said that despite the passage of a significant amount of time, no progress had been made in the case of Ms Jattak, who was kidnapped while her fiancé, uncle, and now her father had been killed.
