Yemeni government forces and popular resistance repelled wide-scale Houthi assaults on eastern and western axes of Taiz city, including in Jabal Han, al-Aqroud, al-Qahfa and al-Shaqb, inflicting dozens of casualties in ambushes and eight-hour battles. [1] In Marib, government troops backed by airstrikes advanced in Wadi al-Hajla and Tabab al-Raida, seizing positions and expanding control while engineering units cleared mines planted by Houthis. [1] The armed forces carried out 1,292 precise targeting operations against legitimate military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist militia, concentrated in Taiz and Marib governorates within the "Dawn of Yemen" operation. [1] These strikes resulted in neutralizing more than 430 elements and destroying or disabling more than 100 military mechanisms and vehicles. Clashes and Setbacks for Houthis in Taiz
The national army forces and popular resistance thwarted a wide attack launched by the Houthi terrorist militia on military sites in the eastern and western axes of Taiz city after violent confrontations on both fronts. [1] Forces stationed in Jabal Han west of the city confronted the attack and thwarted it, inflicting losses in lives and equipment on the attackers. [1] Armed forces maintained their military positions in Jabal Han without change while the situation remained under control. [1] In the Aqroud front in Al-Masrakh district in the countryside of Taiz governorate, armed forces and popular resistance executed a tight military ambush targeting Houthi gatherings and reinforcements after luring them to the killing point, resulting in dozens of dead and wounded and destruction of military mechanisms and equipment. [1] Fierce confrontations and violent clashes broke out between armed forces and the Houthi militia in the adjacent Al-Qahfa area, using various types of heavy and medium weapons, amid the steadfastness of army and popular resistance forces and the thwarting of Houthi infiltration attempts. [1] In the Shaqb front south of Taiz city, the leadership of the 22nd Mika Brigade announced that army forces, supported by popular resistance, repelled a wide attack launched by the Houthi militia after violent confrontations that lasted about eight hours, resulting in the killing of 16 Houthi elements and wounding others. [1] In the southeastern countryside of Taiz governorate, Yemeni army forces captured a field team affiliated with the Houthi militia responsible for operating and directing drones during a security and military operation carried out by a force from the 35th Armored Brigade in the Aqroud-Kahlan front. Advances and Airstrikes in Marib and Reinforcements in Lahj
Armed forces, supported by popular resistance in the Saba and Bayhan axes, launched a wide attack on Houthi militia sites in Wadi al-Hajla and Tabab al-Raida north of Harib district south of Marib governorate, coinciding with intensified air strikes on militia sites and fortifications in the area. [1] Warplanes carried out seven air raids targeting Houthi sites in Wadi al-Hajla and the heights surrounding the Malaa Dam, in addition to fortifications and gatherings of the militia in the valley adjacent to the Um Rish camp. [1] The official spokesman for the armed forces, Colonel Majid al-Nuzaili, confirmed that armed forces in the eastern front in Marib invested the results of the targeting and fire support, expanded the scope of penetration, achieved new field progress, and controlled a number of sites and governing bodies. [1] Military engineering units in various fronts continued to clear sites and passages of mines and explosive devices planted by the Houthi militia, opening advance routes and securing restored areas. [1] In Lahj governorate, government forces pushed military reinforcements to the Al-Madariba and Ras al-Aara axes north and northwest of the governorate, coinciding with continued military movements to confront the Houthi militia. [1] Warplanes carried out air strikes targeting sites affiliated with the Houthi militia in the governorates of Al-Jawf, Sanaa, Al-Hudaydah, Saada and Al-Dhalea. [1]
International Condemnation and Support for Yemen Government
British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband renewed his country's full support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government at all levels. [1] He confirmed that the United Kingdom, as the penholder in the Security Council, will continue to work with international partners to tighten measures to prevent the smuggling of weapons and dual-use technologies to the Houthi militia. [1] Miliband affirmed that the British government is working on preparing an international conference to mobilize political, economic and humanitarian support for the government and people of Yemen. [1] UK Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif renewed her country's support for the government and people of Yemen in facing the escalation of the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia following the attack that targeted Maashiq Palace in the temporary capital Aden. [1] The European Union condemned the attack launched by the Houthi militia on Maashiq Palace in the temporary capital Aden during a meeting of the Yemeni prime minister and members of his government. [1] The EU affirmed in a brief statement its continued support for the Yemeni government and its standing by its side under the current circumstances and challenges. [1]
Worsening Humanitarian Crisis in Besieged Taiz
The local authority in Taiz governorate warned of worsening humanitarian conditions due to the siege imposed by the Houthi militia and preventing relief organizations from reaching the city. [1] Governor Nabil Shamsan said the militia has closed roads leading to Taiz for 15 days, leading to the suspension of electricity, water and garbage transport services due to the prevention of gasoline and diesel entry. [1] Shamsan confirmed in television statements that hospitals in Taiz have become unable to provide medical care to patients due to shortages of medicines and medical supplies. [1] The Houthi militia shelled Al-Saheim Mosque and neighboring homes in the Kahlan area of Jabal Dhahih in Al-Masrakh district south of Taiz after repeated failed attempts to control the area. [1] The shelling included thermal missiles and shells from heavy and medium weapons, causing damage to property. [1] Mosques in the Taiz countryside witnessed a decline in the number of worshippers during Friday prayers against the backdrop of Houthi militia practices and the imposition of preachers loyal to it. DR Congo Accuses Kabila of Plotting Attack with M23
The DR Congo government on Friday accused former president Joseph Kabila of planning a general attack after he teamed up with the Rwandan-backed armed group M23 to take on government forces. [2] Government spokesman Patrick Muyaya told AFP that Kabila has decided to formalise his widespread attack against the Republic. [2] Muyaya added that the choice to take up arms means killing Congolese in order to try to conquer territories. [2] Kabila on Monday joined forces with the M23 to head a new outfit called the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation. [2] The new group was presented as a politico-military outfit that will pool their strengths, resources and means with the aim of putting an end to tyranny by any means, including force. [2] It will be headed by Kabila with M23 leaders serving as deputies. [2] Kabila was condemned to death in absentia a year ago for complicity with the M23. [2] Kabila reappeared in May 2025 in the major eastern city of Goma that is now controlled by the M23. [2] In early 2025 an offensive led by the M23 and the Rwandan army in the eastern DRC resulted in the capture of Goma and Bukavu. [2] Since then the front line has stabilised though fighting continues at times intense involving drone strikes and artillery barrages particularly in South Kivu province. [2]
What to watch next: Armed forces in the eastern front in Marib are expected to continue investing results of targeting and fire support to expand control while engineering units clear additional mines, and the international conference prepared by the United Kingdom to mobilise support for Yemen remains under preparation.
