US Completes Seventh Night of Strikes Targeting Iranian Military Sites
Reporting based primarily on dawn.com.
The US military completed its seventh consecutive night of strikes against Iran, targeting military logistics infrastructure and other sites, according to US Central Command. [1] The Iran strikes are designed to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and to punish IRGC forces for attacks that killed two US personnel in Jordan, with a third missing. [2]
Seventh Night of US Strikes on Iran
US Central Command stated that the strikes began at 6pm ET and targeted Iranian surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage and maritime capabilities. [2] The US military released video said to show the seventh night of Iran strikes. [1] CENTCOM said the airstrikes were carried out at President Donald Trump’s direction to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. [2] Iranian state media reported that US strikes hit near Sirik in southern Iran and that at least six missiles struck Qeshm Island, with explosions heard in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas. [2] The same reports indicated that US strikes hit areas in Hormozgan province. [2]
Iranian Retaliatory Attacks on US Allies
Iran responded by launching large-scale kamikaze drone attacks on US bases in Kuwait, including Camp Udairi and Ali Al Salem Air Base, and also struck sites in Bahrain and Jordan, destroying aircraft. [2] Iran’s army said it carried out large-scale attacks with kamikaze drones against the US military’s ammunition depot at Camp Udairi and the Patriot radar system and air surveillance radar at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. [2] The IRGC said it had struck a US military support centre at Kuwait’s Camp Arifjan and destroyed a radar facility at Ali Al Salem Air Base. [2] Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said one of its oil facilities had been hit in repeated Iranian attacks, causing significant damage and some injuries. [2] The IRGC also targeted a site in Bahrain where US combat aircraft were gathered at Sheikh Isa Air Base and an intelligence data centre. [2] The Guards destroyed at least two US fighter aircraft and three other aircraft during a missile and drone attack early on Saturday on the US base in Al Azraq, Jordan, according to Iranian state TV. [2] Kuwait’s armed forces said they had intercepted Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, and that some firefighters and oil sector workers had been injured while responding to the attacks. [2]
US Troop Casualties in Jordan
Centcom said the deaths of two US troops occurred on Friday and that a third US service member was missing in action. [2] The announcement brought the number of US service members killed since the US-Israeli war on Iran began to 16, while more than 420 have been wounded. [2] US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth posted on X that their sacrifice only stiffens resolve. [2] The conflict, which began when the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran at the end of February, has led to major disruption to energy supplies. [2]
Iranian Leadership Warnings
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei stated that Trump’s signature on the interim ceasefire is worthless, warning of heavier costs for the US, while a senior adviser said Iran would resume full-scale offensive operations if strikes continue. [2] In a written statement carried by the official social media accounts of Iran’s supreme leader and Iranian state media, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei said US actions have shown that Trump’s signature was utterly worthless and devoid of credibility. [2] The statement warned of even heavier costs and further humiliation for the United States. [2] Major General Mohsen Rezaei, a senior military adviser to Khamenei, warned that Tehran would resume full-scale offensive operations if US strikes continued in the coming days. [2] Rezaei said Iran will no longer limit itself to retaliatory, like-for-like responses. [2]
Damage and Casualties from Strikes
Iranian state media reported US strikes hit near Sirik, Qeshm Island with at least six missiles, and areas in Hormozgan province, damaging bridges, a road tunnel, and causing casualties. [2] US airstrikes early on Saturday killed three people and wounded eight others in the southern Hormozgan province, while two bridges and a road tunnel were damaged. [2] Iran’s Health Ministry reported 50 people killed and over 500 wounded in US strikes over the past three weeks. [2] The conflict has disrupted energy supplies and raised fears over global inflation. [2]
Broader Conflict Context
The US and Iran have intensified attacks since an interim ceasefire deal signed a month ago fell apart last week, raising the possibility of a return to all-out war. [2] The conflict, which began when the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran at the end of February, both hoping to disable Tehran’s missile programme, has led to major disruption to energy supplies, fears over global inflation and a battle for control of the Strait of Hormuz. [2] Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei accused the United States of seeking control over the Strait of Hormuz, which usually handles around one-fifth of the world’s oil supply. [2] Both sides have taken aim at shipping traffic, with the US saying it is enforcing a naval blockade and Iran saying it targets vessels violating its rules on navigating the strait. [2]
What to watch next: Major General Mohsen Rezaei warned that Tehran would resume full-scale offensive operations if US strikes continued in the coming days, and Iran’s Supreme Leader stated that repeated breaches had shown Trump’s signature was utterly worthless.
